FAU Lands On Watchlist For Low State Ranking Score

From Boca News, July 8, 2025:

When FAU trustees chose Hasner, they acknowledged his lack of relevant experience but claimed that his ties to Tallahassee as a former legislator would help him secure money. Based partly on those scores, though, FAU will get roughly $32 million less in the July 2025 allocation than Florida International University in Miami, from which FAU is trying to distinguish itself. FIU’s last three scores have been 95, 96 and 96. As for more money from the state, Board of Governors Chairman Brian Lamb warned of “rainy days.”

IN MEMORIAM: TRUDY WINSBERG

Gertrude Katherine Winsberg, a founding member of the South Palm Beach County chapter of the League of Women Voters, died peacefully June 15 under hospice care at her home in Boynton Beach. She was 93. She was an active member of the League for more than 60 years. [Trudy was also an active and generous member of PBC NOW.] She championed causes she believed in — women’s rights, farmworker justice and environmental conservation — with quiet consistency and real impact. Tillman Funeral Home & Crematory was in charge of arrangements. Obituary. Trudy will be terribly missed!!! RIP.

From Joan. Democratic Women’s Caucus:

Congresswomen Lois Frankel is preparing a town hall on the Trump cuts to services.

She is asking us if we personally will speak to experiences we have had with Medicaid or Supplemental Nutrition (SNAP, formerly food stamps) that we would like voters to know about.

If you or someone you know would like to give confidential testimony, please contact Felicia:

“If you have anyone with stories regarding Medicaid and or SNAP we need them!!!  We will not use their name if they would prefer!
