One year ago, over 40,000 of us gathered on Zoom with Heather Cox Richardson to stay grounded and focused just hours before Donald Trump was inaugurated.

In the 12 months since, we’ve seen assaults on immigrants and people who want to protect them; skyrocketing prices; attacks on voting, health care, and reproductive rights; deadly state violence; and much more.

But in the face of it all, we’ve joined together and won important state and local elections, spoken truth to power, and built new communities along the way. We started groups, marched, voted, donated, and didn’t back down from difficult conversations. To put it simply, we never gave up – and our work isn’t over.

To help us prepare for the months ahead, author and historian Heather Cox Richardson is back to reflect on the past year and how we can move forward together. On the first anniversary of the inauguration, Heather will break down the chaotic assaults on our democracy, institutions, and everyday citizens and help lay out where we can go from here. This conversation is not just about naming what’s gone wrong; we are calling out positive changes and ways to take meaningful action.
