| “Florida leads the nation in book bans, and laws like the so-called Stop WOKE Act and SB 266, continue to threaten honest conversations about race, gender, and history.
As the ACLU of Florida challenges these laws in court, we also want to make sure you are prepared for the school year ahead – and ready to stand for your rights in the classroom.
That’s why we’re hosting a month of free virtual events to help students, educators, and community members understand their rights, resist classroom censorship, and join the fight for civil liberties.
- Tuesday, September 2 | 6 – 7 p.m.
Banned Book Club: Discussion of Black Lives Matter at School: An Uprising for Educational Justice
- Tuesday, September 9 | 6 – 7 p.m.
Community Conversation: Academic Freedom and Lessons from History
- Monday, September 15 | 6 – 7 p.m.
Know Your Rights: University Faculty & Immigration Enforcement

Education should empower, not silence. Together, we can keep Florida classrooms places of learning and free from state censorship.
See you there,
