Your next Easy A: Let’s define “anti-racism”

Do you know the difference between being “not racist” and being “anti-racist”? It may not sound like much, but there’s actually a very real distinction!

READ THIS: ANTI-RACISM, IT’S MORE THAN ANY OF US THINK

Let’s be honest — talking about racism is hard! It can be uncomfortable, and even scary, but it’s important. And it’s not just important to talk openly and honestly about the reality of racism in our country, it’s also important to intentionally confront racism so that we can stop it. Earn your Easy A this week by learning a little more about anti-racism. You may be surprised to learn there’s more to it than you think!

From LWV: Empower your future with this free estate planning tool

logo
Three happy, diverse women with their arms around each other, with an overlay of text that says
“It’s a way to ensure that long after I’m gone, others will have the same opportunities to lead, serve, and rise.”
— Celina Stewart, CEO, League of Women Voters, on building her will and legacy with LWV Education Fund
Dear Sheila,

August is Make-A-Will Month, a time to reflect on your legacy and plan for the future you wish to create.

Just as we empower voters and strengthen our democracy each day, LWV is proud to help empower your future with this free estate planning tool from our new partner, FreeWill.

By creating your will, you’re taking an important step to protect what matters most to you. In just 20 minutes, you can:

  • Care for the people and causes you love.
  • Make your wishes clear and accessible.
  • Reflect the values close to your heart through building a legacy for democracy.

Including the League of Women Voters Education Fund in your will is a meaningful way to invest in the ideals that have guided your life: equity, integrity, and impact.

And, here at the League, we are proud to lead by example. As the League’s own CEO, Celina Stewart, recently shared:

“The LWV community has been a steady force — aligning with my values, nurturing my leadership, and giving me the tools and opportunities to make meaningful change. I see this gift not just as a thank-you, but as an investment in the future of the same ideals that helped build my success.”
Create your free will today and consider building a legacy that supports the League’s vital work to empower voters and defend democracy. Your dedication to informed and active civic participation will inspire generations to come.
In League,

Heather Koslov signatureHeather Koslov

P.S. If you have already included a gift to The League of Women Voters Education Fund in your will or other plans, please let us know by filling out this form. We would be honored to recognize your commitment.

From Easy A: The Climate Crisis is a Health Crisis

Hi Rebecca,

Meteorologist and climate change expert Chris Edwards might have the best broadcasting voice I’ve ever heard! That helps soften the blow when you hear what he has to say about climate change.

WATCH THIS: THE CLIMATE CRISIS IS A HEALTH CRISIS

Chris Edwards joined us earlier this month for our event, Climate Change 101. Some of what he said will sound familiar to you if you earned your Easy A last week! Watch this one minute clip from his presentation where he speaks to what Dr. Alice Chen told us — that the climate crisis is also a health crisis. But it’s not all bad news! He also talked about how this is a solvable problem if we act soon.
