Dear Governor Desantis from Dorothy H Wilken, Former Boca Raton Mayor

Dear Governor Desantis:

Why do you want to kill me? Why do you want me to die? I haven’t done anything to cause you physical, mental or spiritual harm or to give you any other reason to wish me dead.

Though a Democrat now, I used to be a Republican. Is this the reason? Because I switched parties?

Even though I did not vote for you in November 2018, I thought you had been doing an okay-job for someone with so little experience. Is that the reason? Because I didn’t vote for you?

I’m an 84 year-old White woman. Could any of these be the reason? Because I’m 84? Because I’m White? Because I’m a woman?

I want what’s best for Florida, but have lost confidence in your leadership . . . or the leadership of the crazy person in the White House.

Please turn over management of our State’s pandemic affairs to someone who has the skills and understanding you clearly lack.

Please give us cause to hope that we might see the coronavirus infection rate decline so we can be safe again!

We live in an age of news overload, especially of the sky-is-falling genre. It’s enough to make one suspect we are facing a global pandemic of paranoia! So, please, take the research below seriously without feeling we must go hide under our beds or give up.

Originally meant for a prominent newscaster/news analyst who ignored it, it is from one of our members who wishes to remain anonymous:

In 2015 I became fascinated with the lawsuit of Beth Clarkson, Kansas statistician who found anomalistic results of the elections. Beth Clarkson attempted to sue the Secretary of State, Kris Kobach. Needless to say, with Governor Sam Brownback, her court case was not allowed to pursue. As I continued my research, I came across the information of the Diebold Machines, that segued into the ownership of ESS, The McCarthy Group, and various trade names, all owned by Republicans. I began reading about the changing of the Voting Machines in various articles, BLACKBOXVOTING.ORG, and various websites were my source of information at that time. It seems to me that we need to reveal and explore the changing of algorithms even more now, especially since Donald Trump is trying to prevent us from the Mail-in Voting process. To give you some history, I had started with the story of CHUCK HAGEL back in 2009 with his investment in the Voting Machines once owned by the Ahmanson family, the Christian Reconstructionist. The Republicans have now excelled in owning virtually ALL of the VOTING MACHINES. The algorithms will be changed remotely in our next election.

I have listed a few websites that I went to back in 2015, 2016, and 2017. I am asking you to dig deeper. Perhaps you will come across some of the information on Shelby County, Tennessee where inconsistencies were observed where remote access to the election management program took place in multiple jurisdictions. The Brennan Center, NYTimes, NPR have all discussed faulty voting machines. It amazes me that we are not discussing the reason why Donald Trump wants you to use the Voting Machines instead of Mail-In Ballots, especially during this pandemic. It is very clear to me. We need to let people know that the machines are the ones that are rigged. Stopping the Mail-In Ballot is another form of Voter Suppression.

Thank you for the email and related information.

I think there are a couple of important things to note:

1. ESS is the only vendor in the state that provides high-speed tabulation. The other vendor, Dominion, does not have a high-speed option. That is why the large counties all use the ESS equipment.

2. The machines that tabulate in election day and early voting ballots, and the machines that tabulate the vote by mail ballots, are both made by ESS.

3. In Palm Beach County, we will be purchasing a new system called Clear Ballot. It is currently authorized for use in Florida for audit purposes only. However, beginning in January 2021, it will be authorized for recount purposes as well. The great thing about this system is that it is not made by the same vendor, reads the ballots using a different technology, and will be a back up for us in confirming the results. We are doing a trial run with it in August. When it is in full use, every ballot will run not only through our tabulation equipment (from ESS) but also through the Clear Ballot system. Results can be compared and confirmed using two completely different systems and methods of tabulation.we may not run all tally types in August, but we hope to in November.

I hope this helps to alleviate your concerns. We also run tapes and totals from the machines before the totals are sent to the warehouse from the tabulators through the direct secure modem. Before the results are certified as final, we compare the results from every machine tape to the ones that were modemed in on election night.

NOW Celebrates the Life of John Lewis — And We Pledge to Honor His Legacy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – At Congressman John Lewis’s last appearance in Selma, Alabama to commemorate the historic 1965 march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge—where state troopers launched a vicious attack on peaceful demonstrators that left him with a fractured skull,–– he returned to a message that he advocated for throughout his life, the power of the right to vote.

Already diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, John Lewis looked back on that day and said, “We were beaten, we were tear-gassed. I thought I was going to die on this bridge. But somehow and some way, God almighty helped me here.”

“I’m not going to give up. I’m not going to give in…We must go out and vote like we’ve never, ever voted before. We must use the vote as a nonviolent instrument or tool to redeem the soul of America.”

As we enter an election season where voter suppression is increasingly used as a tool of white supremacy, bigotry, and prejudice, we draw inspiration from John Lewis’s life, and motivation from his tireless faith in the power of the people to defeat injustice. This November we will mobilize and vote as our lives depend on it, making “good trouble.”

NOW joins the call for the Edmund Pettus Bridge to be renamed in honor of John Lewis, and we also call on Congress to govern under the guidance of his principles and his example.

Our activists are dedicated to following in his footsteps – making sure we continue to advocate against racial injustice. We will work for a “real” civil rights act that goes beyond necessary police and law enforcement reforms and makes reparations that lead to racial and economic justice by supporting schools, job opportunities, access to housing and health care and so much more.

The legacy of John Lewis will never be forgotten – may he rest in power.
