Hello DWC members and friends, please call your Florida Representative to vote NO on the book banning bill HB 1539 before it comes to the floor, 1:00 PM Thursday April 24!
HB 1539 would force schools to remove any book with sexually explicit content–even science books, and regardless of students’ age–upon one complaint, even from a non parent.
And quoting HB 1539, “The school district may not consider potential literary, artistic, political, or scientific value as a basis for retaining the material.”
