SUMMARY:Women's Equality Day Program: We Can Be the Change We Need - The Fight Continues
DESCRIPTION:View our two-part\, 90-minute\, pre-recorded program; comment on it here or via our FaceBook page if you wish.  \nPart I and Part 2:  Lifting as We Climb: Black Suffragists and Our Continuing Fight for Equality in Attitude and Law (39:13) \nWe are focusing on women of color and white women\, to render Women’s Equality Day authentically inclusive. Attention energizes – when we listen to each other we become aware. Intention transforms – choosing to act on what we learn can bring about the change we want. When working together we can be a force for fixing our society. Parts 1 and 2 are introductory and informative videos\, including “Untold Stories of Black Women in the Suffrage Movement” and a Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith recorded in November 2018 with her mother\, daughter\, co-worker and Jane Elliott\, an activist for racism awareness. \nPart 3: The Panel and Conversation (1:08:54) \nWe asked a panel of awesome and mindful women to tell us their inspirational stories and lessons learned. The panel will advise us on how we can become the change we want and need. Our moderator Reverend Renai Collins will introduce our five panelists. After viewing\, please contribute to the continuing conversation! \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Racial Wealth Gap Learning Simulation
DESCRIPTION:Dear Friends\, \nI hope you\, your family and friends are well and being safe during these challenging times.\nPlease join us virtually on Saturday\, February 20 from 1:00-3:00PM.\nThe event is free and open to the public\, but limited to the first 150 persons to register. Register here:\nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/racial-wealth-gap-learning-simulation-tickets-136461663509 \nPartnering with APD (All People’s Day) and the Palm Beach Section of the NCJW (National Council of Jewish Women)\, NOWPBC (National Organization for Women) is so pleased to host the not-to-miss event\, ‘The Racial Wealth Gap Learning Simulation.’ \nIn recognition of Black History Month and our unified commitment to racial justice\, Florence French Fagan will moderate an interactive workshop for attendees that brilliantly makes it possible for participants to learn how the Wealth Gap in the U.S. has intentionally\, structurally and institutionally created the racial inequity our present social\, economic\, and political arena struggles with daily. Florence is the Florida Director for Bread for the World. I participated twice and can say this focused and factual presentation on root causes in a simulation format provided participants with a poignant and clear understanding\, an emotional and intellectual experience\, and an invitation to take action that promotes racial equity in an inclusive and substantive way. \nFor any questions or concerns\, please contact me. \nWarmly\,\n\, \nArlene\nArlene R Ustin\n(561) 504-9780: cell/texts\naustin@prescott.edu

SUMMARY:All People’s Day Diversity Festival virtual retrospective
DESCRIPTION:The All People’s Day Diversity Festival virtual retrospective highlights ten years of free festivals at Pompey Park in Delray Beach\, FL.\n\n\nAll People’s Day honors people of all ages\, colors\, religions\, cultures\, sexual orientations\, sizes\, and different abilities.  We show the positive and passionate aspects of connecting with people from different cultures. This is done through visual arts\, music\, dance\, and crafts for all ages. \nExamples of performers seen in the video are: African American music\, Irish dance\, Japanese drummers\, Mexican dance\, Caribbean music\, Native American hoops\, and Chinese dance\, with music and dance from Hip Hop to Americana Folk. \nOur goal is to help form a better world. And for the first time ever the festival will be streamed online.  These highlights capture the festivals’ diversity rarely seen in one venue\, that until the pandemic\, was held live once a year.  \nThe one hour Festival streams on March 20th at 11am and repeats for 8 Hours on  www.AllPeoplesDay.org YouTube: Elliott A Schwartz\, and Facebook. \nThe festivals were run entirely by volunteers.  Hundreds of people have been involved as committee chairs\, volunteers\, sponsors\, non-profit and product booths.  \nFounder Susan Berkowitz-Schwartz\, started this holiday of diversity in 1973. Her imprint and words are in the video.  Below are the three traditions of the holiday: \nThe Craft Dough People teaches children that everyone is made from the same ingredients and should therefore be treated with equal respect.   \nThe Symbol for the festival has four families of different cultures with arms crossing their hearts\, holding hands\, surrounding a globe\, hoping for peace and understanding in the world.  \nOrigami Peace Cranes are an international peace symbol in tribute to a young Japanese girl named Sadako.  She was dying of Leukaemia from exposure to the Nuclear Bomb in Hiroshima.  Sadako  tried to fold 1\,000 cranes to bring peace to the world. \nThis video is dedicated to Black Lives Matter as well as Monica Heron and Jack Lieberman who sadly passed away and were festival favourites. \nElliott Schwartz filmed all ten festivals with volunteer videographers and edited the enormous footage to make this extraordinary video experience.

SUMMARY:Demonstration against court handling of domestic violence
DESCRIPTION:Earlier this year\, USA Today published an investigative series titled “Florida blames mothers when men batter them – then takes away their children”.  It focused on the child welfare system of Florida\, exposing a well-established practice of removing children from mothers who seek help from an abusive relationship.   Families Against Court Travesties\, Inc. (FACTS)\, being committed to educating the public on these issues\, is continuing the conversation with a panel of Family Court officials and litigants\, set for May 22.  FACTS was created by NOW board members in 2003 and continues to observe proceedings in both Family and Dependency Courts. \nTo draw attention to this issue\, we are having a demonstration on Thursday\, May 13 at 11:45 at the Delray Beach Courthouse.  Join us\, wearing white tops with a Court Watch badge (available onsite if you don’t have one). If you have a stroller or baby carriage\, you are welcome to bring it for the visual. \nClick here for our brochure for more information about our issue.
